Ok, I'm not exactly sure of what to do about this, but at least I've got a start. I signed up for unlimited long distance with my phone company, but come to find out it's not unlimited after all. When I called and signed up for it the lady just told me about a 6 month deal that was going on where it was $12.95 for the first 6 months, then $24 after that. So I thought, well ok, i can just cansle whenever I want, and the lady said I could. So I signed up for it. Then I get a call on last Friday and this other woman tells me that there was a cap on minutes, and I never even knew about it. The original person I talked to never told me anything about a cap, or what their policy was, just told me about the deal and that was it. So I had a huge phone bill that I wasn't expecting to have because after you go over 5000 minutes wich includes last month, and half of this month, they charge you a reduced rate of 5 cents a minutes. I didn't know that either. I guess part of it came from me going on 3 way a lot and stuff which I guess I shouldn't have done, but i just thought ok, well it's unlimited. I just thought unlimited meant unlimited since I new other friends who had unlimited long distance from another company and they didn't have any problems that I new of. I just wanted to save time on my cellphone so I wouldn't have to use it as much since I was sharing it with someone else. Anyway, I owed last months bill to them anyway because my e check didn't go through, so $150 was owed, and that wasn't a problem, but the other money was. I paid $200 of it and I wish I wouldn't have because now I don't htink I'll get that money back. Today I found out that they didn't have my correct address which doesn't make sense because I signed up with a new account last year when I moved to another apartment, so they should've had it. So that's why I never got anything in the mail about my unlimited long distance that I signed up for last month. So I got a hold of the Public Utilities Commission today and told this nice woman my story and she said that she agrees with me and understands but she can't promise me that I'll be able to get a refund of the money I owe. I was just so worried because I would like to go home to Ohio next month for Christmas and if I have to pay the rest of that stupid bill, I won't be able to. And I was worried that if I just drop this company all together and go with charter which is our cable company here, that the collections agency would come after me. So I wasn't sure of what to do. It's just so stressful because when I have lots of money saved up in my account, something has to happen, and it's just gone just like that. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do now? I called my phone company earlier and asked to speak with a supervisor but there wasn't anyone in at the time, so I guess I'll try tomorrow. Do you think that's a good idea? Or should I just stick with the Public Utilities Commission, which I'm going to do anyway. Do you guys think I should get a hold of anyone else? I know that if I tell them that they're suppose to record the phone calls, so they should try and find the one that I was in, but they won't do that, i know it. That would be my proof right there that no one told me about anything except the 6 month deal. I didn't find out on their website until after I got the call, and I looked later on that night. If I would've been smart i guess I would've done it a long time ago before I signed up but I wasn't thinking. I just wanted to talk with friends and my parents and that was it. Anyway, I'm done rambling for now. I was just so stressed and angry that I didn't know what to do with myself. Please, if anyone has any advice for me, let me know.
Ask to speak with a mangager, if they say no one is there then tell them that you want to speak to who ever is in charge of them. Tell them what happened. They keep audio of your conversations for these reason. Ask the manager to review them. I have ishues all the time wear they don't tell me right infoe, you have to ask a couple of people to make shure its right. Some of the people don't know much on those things. Tell them if you want to, that you are thinking of a law suit for false infoermation and advertisment. This will if not anything, get their attenchen.
Yes I was thinking of doing that tomorrow. I can't do it now because they're closed, so hopefully that'll get the ball rolling. Thank you for the help.
I'm having issues with a phone company too, and I started this topic about it:

You might be able to find some help there as well. Good luck.

hey, i dont have much advice, i just hope it WORKS OUT FOR YOU.
Well, after trying to talk to the phone company this morning, and not getting anywhere, I went there myself. And I talked with a supervisor and I guess she heard my original conversation that I had with the woman trying to sell me the long distance. And I got me a credit and I don't owe any money to them anymore! So I decided that I'll just have my bill come out of my credit so I don't owe them any money at all next month for my bill, and most of my bill will be covered for January. So I'm quite happy now. I'm just trying to decide if I wanna stay with them after January, or if I should go with Charter, since that's the other company here. I guess I'll have to think it over. I'm just so glad it all worked out so I can do the things I want to do. And now I know the right questions to ask when I sign up with a new service. Thanks for all the ideas though, it really helped.
Glad you got it all fixed. that is exactly why companies like that monitor the calls of their customer service representatives. However, one piece of advice for the future. Question, question, and reverify everything that they tell you. They will make things sound like the best deal possible, and will generally not tell you the fine print that goes along with whatever deal they're offering. So make sure you ask for that fine print. A lot of people don't, and get screwed over in the process.
Oh How I hope the plan I am wanting isn't going to hold any secrets.
Yes I will ask about that fine print, I'll make sure I talk to a supervisor if I don't feel comfortable enough with a customer service rep. So yes, that's what I'm going to do, thanks for the advice.
Glad things worked out.
